The Ardennes are situated in southeastern Belgium and will offer you some of the most attractive scenery and landscapes in Europe.
Bastogne is famous because of its key position during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. When the advancing Germans demanded surrender from the American forces garrisoned there, the response of General Mc Auliffe was just one defiant word - "Nuts." The ensuing siege leveled the town, but Bastogne never fell.
We will learn about facts and details in the Historical Center, displaying a unique collection of uniforms, vehicles and weapons that belonged to the divisions which were involved in the battle. We see a slides presentation that show the different movements of the troops. The showpiece is a 24 minute movie compiled with footage that was shot during the battle!
This tour includes a fine lunch prior to the tour moving on to Dinant.
